What's your cancellation policy?

I'll hold your date with a deposit — $100–$300 depending on the package. As I'm flexible on swapping dates and times when I can, if you cancel because you can no longer make it or worry about the weather, I'll only refund the deposit if I'm able to rebook the time.

What if it's raining?

Kauai sees lots of rain. Without the rain, it wouldn't be so lush and beautiful here. So we accept it. Unless it's a deluge — an all-day pouring thing — my shoots go on as planned. Don't worry, the photos will still come out great.

How do I receive my photographs?

You will download your full-resolution digital images from a private gallery I'll make for you, linked to your email. It's very important that once you book, you give me your email address and mobile phone number.

Who owns the photos — you or me?

Shared ownership. You and me. You have the right to print, sell, publish, etc. When you post on social media, I'd appreciate being tagged. I have the right to use your photos for Sunsets at The Beach publicity including print, social media, and websites.

What's your turnaround time?

From the shoot date it is typically 2 to 5 days, a few days longer for weddings with guests and multiple-hour events.

Is retouching included in your packages?

Only modest retouching like debris removal and unwanted beach-goer removal is included. For body and facial enhancements, you'll need to select next-level editing. Fees start from $150.

Why does more people cost more?

More people equals more editing — every person in the photo is edited for, at minimum, balanced illumination. It's not a per-head fee, it's a reflection of the real editing time involved.

Can I choose the photos I want edited?

Yes, if you purchase a $250 proofs add-on to your package. That said — I'm really fantastic at choosing, and I'll give you all the best without you paying extra. If you ask me to search for photos not already given, you'll be putting me back on the clock at $100/hr.

What's the best time of day for a photo shoot?

Usually the golden hours — if mother nature cooperates. That means the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. The quality of light is simply unmatched here on the North Shore.

Will you do editing changes after delivery?

Yes. I typically don't make editing mistakes, but if you find errors or artifacts introduced by editing, I'll fix them free of charge. I'll also do minor adjustments for up to 3 photos without charging. Thereafter my fee is $100/hr.

Can I get the Camera Raw files right after the shoot?

Yes — only if you've chosen not to have your photos edited. Just give me a compatible camera card. Note: I won't edit your photos and give you the RAW. It's one or the other.

Do you shoot all over the island?

My favorite photo locations are all along our North Shore — Princeville, Hanalei, and beyond. But I do shoot all over the island. Just ask.

I only want one photo — can you do that?

I don't offer a single-shot service; it's not realistic for my time or talent. I always photograph multiple set-ups. You can select a mini session with 25 edited included photos — that's our smallest package.

Do you ever offer specials?

Will we have a written hiring agreement?
